The space

The Lake Yurt sits at the lowest point of our property, where the view of Lake Atitlán is most direct and the three volcanoes — San Pedro, Tolimán and Atitlán — fill the frame across the water. The private balcony is built for slow mornings and long sunsets.

This is the yurt where mist drifting off the lake becomes part of waking up, and where the volcanic horizon feels closest at hand.

Fuego Atitlán is a small boutique eco-hotel, and the Lake Yurt is built to reflect that — handcrafted by local Maya Kaqchikel artisans, raised on stilts to leave the land intact, lit by solar energy and served by solar-heated showers.

Optional traditional Maya breakfast available on request — handmade tortillas, local eggs, seasonal fruit, a smoothie, and highland coffee grown on the slopes around the lake, served on your balcony.

Other things to note

The property sits on a volcanic hillside above Lake Atitlán — uneven paths and some steps between areas. The Lake Yurt is the easiest to reach, with the shortest walk from the entrance.

Compost toilets are clean and odour-free — we're happy to walk you through them on arrival if it's your first time.
