Eco glamping yurt at Lake Atitlán, Guatemala — set highest on our boutique property in San Marcos La Laguna, with a private compost toilet and panoramic views of three volcanoes.
King-size bed with organic cotton linens, Starlink Wi-Fi, and a fire pit under the stars. Optional traditional Maya breakfast served on your balcony.
Showers shared between just 5 yurts; the toilet is yours alone — intimate by design. A 15-minute walk from San Marcos La Laguna.
The space
The Sky Yurt is raised on stilts at the highest point of the property, where Lake Atitlán opens out completely and the three volcanoes — San Pedro, Tolimán and Atitlán — rise in front of you with nothing in the way. On misty mornings, you wake up genuinely in the clouds.
This is the most private of our four yurts and the only one with its own en-suite compost toilet — a small touch that makes a real difference on a longer stay, and a favourite for couples retreats and honeymoons in Guatemala.
Like the rest of the property, the Sky Yurt was built with care: handcrafted furnishings by Maya Kaqchikel artisans, solar power, solar-heated showers, an 8-category waste separation system, and stilt construction that leaves the volcanic hillside undisturbed.
Optional traditional Maya breakfast available on request — handmade tortillas, local eggs, seasonal fruit, a smoothie, and highland coffee grown on the slopes around the lake, served on your balcony.
Guest access
Your yurt is entirely yours — private balcony, private interior, private compost toilet, your own pace.
Shared with the other guests: · Solar-heated showers · Fully equipped outdoor kitchen · Fire pit and communal lounge area · Trails through the highland vegetation
Other things to note
The property sits on a volcanic hillside above Lake Atitlán — uneven paths and some steps between areas. The Sky Yurt sits at the highest point and requires the longest climb of stone steps, easy to navigate but worth knowing if you have mobility considerations.
Compost toilets are clean and odour-free — we're happy to walk you through them on arrival if it's your first time.
Tuk-tuks and boats from San Marcos La Laguna connect you to other towns around Lake Atitlán. We're happy to help with onward trave
