Eco glamping yurt at Lake Atitlán, Guatemala — tucked into the upper hillside above San Marcos La Laguna for seclusion, silence, and unbroken views of three volcanoes.
King-size bed with organic cotton linens, Starlink Wi-Fi, and a fire pit under the stars. Optional traditional Maya breakfast served on your balcony.
Showers and compost toilets shared between just 5 yurts — intimate by design. A 15-minute walk from San Marcos La Laguna.
The space
The Summit Yurt is raised on stilts in the upper section of the property, where the climb up rewards you with one of the quietest spots at Fuego Atitlán. The private balcony opens onto the full sweep of Lake Atitlán and the three volcanoes — San Pedro, Tolimán and Atitlán — rising in front of you.
This is the yurt for couples who want a romantic getaway with real seclusion — far enough from the common areas to feel like you have the hillside to yourselves.
Built into the eco approach of the property: locally sourced materials, Maya Kaqchikel craftsmanship, solar power, compost toilets, and a building method designed to tread lightly on the volcanic land it sits on.
Optional traditional Maya breakfast available on request — handmade tortillas, local eggs, seasonal fruit, a smoothie, and highland coffee grown on the slopes around the lake, served on your balcony.
Guest access
Your yurt is entirely yours — private balcony, private interior, your own pace.
Shared with the other guests: · Solar-heated showers · Compost toilets · Fully equipped outdoor kitchen · Fire pit and communal lounge area · Trails through the highland vegetation
Other things to note
The property sits on a volcanic hillside above Lake Atitlán — uneven paths and some steps between areas. The Summit Yurt sits high on the property and requires a climb of stone steps, easy to navigate but worth knowing if you have mobility considerations.
Compost toilets are clean and odour-free — we're happy to walk you through them on arrival if it's your first time.
Tuk-tuks and boats from San Marcos La Laguna connect you to other towns around Lake Atitlán. We're happy to help with onward travel.

We chose this stay right after our Acatenango hike to unwind and relax. Though tired due to our hike, we managed to ascend all the steps to get to the Yurt (be mindful there are a lot of stairs!) and Javiera helped us with our luggage (thank you!). The hotel is located around 10-15 minutes from San Marcos center providing a quiet and serene environment to relax in. The yurt itself is beautiful! With a wide open view of the lake and its surrounding volcanoes. We decided to wake up early each morning to enjoy the sunrise, due to good weather we were even able to see Fuego erupt from our bed each morning! I would recommend anyone to stay in this yurt, you will not be disappointed as long as you keep in mind that you will need to ascend/descend quite a few stairsw! Without a doubt 10/10
The King’s Yurt at Fuego Atitlán offers a truly special experience, combining comfort with eco-conscious living in one of the most breathtaking spots near Lake Atitlán. What struck me most was the thoughtful design, which integrates natural materials and sustainable principles without compromising comfort. The spacious yurt features a cozy king-size bed, a clean, shared bathroom, and ample natural light from large windows with beautiful views. The private terrace quickly became my favorite spot, providing uninterrupted views of the lake and surrounding volcanoes. It’s a peaceful space, perfect for reflecting or simply soaking in the quiet beauty of the environment. Knowing that the property prioritizes sustainability made the stay feel even more meaningful. From its use of eco-friendly materials to its minimal impact on the surroundings, the King’s Yurt is ideal for travelers who value both comfort and environmental stewardship.
