Fuego Atitlán › Digital Nomads
Remote work · Lake Atitlán · Guatemala
Fuego Atitlán is an eco-lodge in San Marcos La Laguna, steps from Lake Atitlán and surrounded by three volcanoes. We offer digital nomads a serious base: 200 Mbps Starlink internet and the space to do your best work in one of the most beautiful places on earth.
Free Breakfast — Low Season OfferStay 1 week or more between June and October and we bring breakfast to your private terrace at 9am: local coffee, smoothie, and a típico plate. Just mention it when booking.
The infrastructure
High-performance Starlink internet. Fast and consistent for uploads, downloads, and async work. No issues reported by guests on extended stays.
Inside the yurt, a low table looks directly over the lake. Step outside to your private terrace, or head to the shared kitchen if you feel like being around people.
Guatemala has no daylight saving time. Easy overlap with US East Coast mornings, full West Coast workdays, and European afternoon standups.
At 1,560m elevation, the lake stays mild year-round. No AC needed. Light jacket for evenings. No tropical heat or humidity.
Direct flights into Guatemala City (GUA), then a shuttle and short boat to San Marcos La Laguna. We can help arrange transfers on request.
Your yurt and terrace are yours alone. The shared kitchen attracts an interesting mix of travelers. Our manager runs an online business from the property — the setup comes from experience, not guesswork.
The property
Fuego Atitlán sits in San Marcos La Laguna, steps from the lake, with every yurt and cabin opening onto an unobstructed panorama of three volcanoes. A genuine eco-lodge — compost toilets, locally sourced materials, 8-category waste separation — without compromising on comfort.
We sit just outside the village — close enough to walk to restaurants, the boat dock, and local life, but far enough that you won't hear dogs or neighbors. San Marcos has a good range of food options, local events, and things to do when you step away from the screen.

Coffee, smoothie & típico plate
A day at Fuego
Coffee, a fresh smoothie, and a típico plate — brought to your private terrace at 9am with the lake and volcanoes in front of you.
Open the laptop at the low table facing the lake, move to your terrace when you want air, or head to the shared kitchen if you feel like company. 200 Mbps Starlink throughout.
San Marcos has a solid range of places to eat — 5 minutes on foot. A proper break away from the screen before the afternoon block.
Log off and step outside. Swim in the lake, boat to a neighboring village, or hike the trails around San Pedro volcano.
Why Fuego
Just outside San Marcos — far enough that dogs and street noise don't reach you, close enough to walk to restaurants, local events, and the boat dock.
Three volcanoes, a lake, changing light all day. Working with that in front of you is different from a co-working space or a city apartment. Hard to explain until you've done it.
Our manager runs an online business from the property. The WiFi, the setup, the quiet — none of it is accidental.
Guatemala stays on UTC-6 year-round. Clean overlap with US East or West Coast. No clock changes mid-stay.

FAQ
Is 200 Mbps Starlink reliable for remote work?
Yes. Starlink delivers fast, consistent speeds for uploads, downloads, and staying connected. Guests on extended stays haven't reported connectivity issues.
What's included in the free breakfast?
A típico plate (local eggs, black beans, handmade tortillas), a fresh smoothie, and Guatemalan coffee. Brought to your private terrace at 9am every morning of your stay.
Can I extend my stay once I arrive?
Yes, subject to availability. Many guests arrive planning a week and stay longer. Let us know as early as possible and we'll do our best to keep you in the same accommodation.
Is breakfast always included?
Only as part of the low season offer (June – October, 7-night minimum). Outside those dates it's not included, but there are good local options in San Marcos a short walk away.
Can I bring a partner who isn't working remotely?
Of course. Accommodation is priced for up to 2 guests — breakfast included for both. Lake Atitlán has plenty to offer: volcano hikes, Maya cooperatives, boat trips between villages, yoga, and local markets.
